Workshop Program:

Your experience begins with a warm welcome in a traditional weaving workshop in the medina of Fes, where you will meet your artisan instructor. You’ll be introduced to the history of Moroccan carpet weaving, including the cultural significance of patterns, colors, and symbols used in different regions. You will explore the materials such as wool and natural dyes, and observe a demonstration of traditional weaving techniques on a loom before starting your own creation.

Next, you will begin the hands-on weaving process using a traditional loom. Under the guidance of your instructor, you’ll learn how to set the threads, create basic patterns, and weave your own small carpet or textile piece. This step-by-step process allows you to fully engage with the craft, understand the rhythm of weaving, and appreciate the patience and skill required to create Moroccan carpets.

In the final stage, you will complete your woven piece by securing the threads and refining the details. You will also have the opportunity to personalize your design with simple patterns or color combinations. At the end of the workshop, you will leave with your handmade woven creation, along with a deeper understanding of Moroccan textile traditions and unforgettable memories of your experience in Fes.
